A man in the middle of two attempted murders fled the police and escaped out of the city. He then appeared in Regina Provincial court. 54-year-old Rony Hudson supposedly ran over a man and woman inside a truck then drove over the said woman once more as he attempted to escape from the police. EMS tried to save the woman who suffered from stab wounds. The event brought no serious injuries despite how violent it may have been considering how the police shot at the suspect after their commands for him to stop were ignored.
Members of the RPS were able to catch up to the vehicle when they reached north of Regina. This is when they were able to arrest Hudson. The Crown stated that they did not want Hudson to be released from custody in a bail hearing held last June 26. Hudson then requested for the assistance of a Legal Aid lawyer and the matter was supposed to be handled today for further proceedings.
In the meantime, Hudson hired a private lawyer, who had been given the matter from Legal Aid and required more disclosure.
Hudson appeared through video from the Regina Provincial Correctional Center while his lawyer appeared by phone through court. The request of two was for the matter to be adjourned until August 8, which Judge Murray Hinds agreed to.
