A Saskatchewan farmer recently pointed a firearm at a young Indigenous girl. According to the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN), this man drove a tractor and allegedly threatened to kill the young girl. Pierceland RCMP is currently looking for the said man who is described to be of old age and owning a green tractor. The Pierceland RCMP is involved in the incident that unfolded August 2, 2022 which took place on Highway 55, east of Pierceland. Pierceland RCMP state that the victim was able to return to her car, drive away, and then report the incident to them. The victim was able to find safety without having any physical injuries.

FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron released a statement to the public saying that “It’s far too often we hear how racist attitudes from rural Saskatchewan impact our people and put them in danger. We will not sit idle while individuals like the suspect are free and allowed to continue to put our women in danger. This incident has undertones of the Colten Boushie incident, and the RCMP must conclude it before it divides the communities; we need justice on this matter.”

This event proves that racism is still rampant in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is unfortunate that citizens are still getting away with these malicious actions that impede on one’s safety and dignity. Although the police are doing their best to handle cases of racism, racism is still integrated into the fabric of the Saskatchewan community, which is something that will be difficult to unlearn.

A police sketch was publicized August 4, 2022. He was detailed to be of old age, have a heavy build, and to have white colored hair that is balding. During the incident, the man wore a cowboy hat, a blue plaid shirt, brown suspenders, black books, and glasses that had a wire frame all the while driving a green tractor that was hauling hay bales.

If there is information you would like to share about the man being searched for by the police, you may contact Pierceland RCMP at 306-839-3330 or send an anonymous tip by alerting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
