Saskatoon guns and gangs unit lays 40 charges after bust

Three people are facing a combined 40 charges after police searched a residence in Saskatoon’s 400 block of Schmeiser Bend under a warrant, according to a police release.

Police say the Guns and Gangs Unit, with help from the Drug Unit, the Tactical Support Unit and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team, moved in shortly before 10 p.m. on September 11. A later update to the release says a single 30-year-old man was taken into custody at the home without incident, correcting an earlier version that had put the number at two. A 23-year-old man tried to run but was caught by a police service dog and arrested. A warrant is also being sought for a 30-year-old woman, police say.

The release says officers seized two 9mm Glock handguns, a Century Arms semi-automatic rifle, five over-capacity magazines and ammunition. Police also say they seized 9,400.22 grams of methamphetamine, 7,789.99 grams of soft cocaine and 760 Dilaudid 8 pills, along with $326,490 CAD, $1,460 USD and a 2025 Hyundai Tucson.

All three accused face drug, weapons and proceeds of crime charges, police say. The charges have not been proven in court, and the release does not name any of the accused.
