Corrections and right of reply

We publish reporting that names people and businesses. That obliges us to be reachable, and to fix what we get wrong in public rather than quietly.

How to raise something

Write to info@saskatchewanherald.com with the article and what you say is wrong. You do not need a lawyer to write to us, and you do not need to be the subject of the article.

What we do next

  1. We acknowledge within three working days. Even if we need longer to look into it, you will hear that we received it.
  2. We check it against the source. Where the claim rests on a document, we go back to the document.
  3. If we got a fact wrong, we correct it and say so. The correction appears on the article itself with the date, describing what was changed. We do not silently edit and we do not delete the record.
  4. If you dispute a characterisation rather than a fact, we publish your response. It appears with the article, in your words.
  5. If a case has since been decided, we add the outcome. Archived articles keep their original text; a dated editor's note above them carries what the court found.

What we will not do

We do not remove accurate reporting because a subject would prefer it were not published, and we do not accept payment to alter or withdraw a story. If a court orders us to do something, we comply and we say that we did.
