Saskatoon man charged after firearm discharges at home

A 27-year-old Saskatoon man faces seven weapons-related charges after a firearm discharged and wounded him in the early morning of September 18, 2026, police say.

Officers were called to a home on the 100 block of Avenue S South at about 5:30 a.m. that day after a report of an injured person came in. They arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators later determined the man had been trying to take the firearm apart when it went off and injured him, according to a Saskatoon Police Service release. Paramedics transported him to hospital for treatment of the wound.

As a result, the man has since been charged with seven weapons-related offences, the release states, under occurrence number 26-134980. The release does not name the man and does not specify which offences he now faces.

All of the charges are allegations. None has been proven in court.
