Saskatchewan took in more than $29 million at its fourth Crown oil and gas sale of the fiscal year, the provincial government said in an October 9 release. The sale took place on October 6, 2026.

The Lloydminster area produced the highest total at $11,366,578. Estevan followed at $10,033,965, then Swift Current at $5,821,007 and Kindersley at $1,909,781.

The province accepted bids on 75 parcels: 69 leases and six exploration licences, together covering 22,350 hectares. The six exploration licences accounted for $19,829,283. Estevan had two of the licences, Swift Current three and Lloydminster one.

The largest exploration licence bonus bid was $9,995,200, from Scout Energy Ltd. for a 2,324-hectare licence east of St. Walburg. The largest lease bid was $801,000, from Hummingbird Energy Inc. for 64 hectares northeast of North Portal.

According to the release, leases can run for as long as five years, and the holder may drill for and produce oil and gas during that time. Exploration licences last between two and five years in less-developed areas. They allow exploration and later production.

The release says oil and gas prices, available land, geological and technological limits, and market conditions all affect activity at these offerings.

The next sale is set for December 1, 2026.
