Saskatchewan building construction investment rises in August

Investment in building construction in Saskatchewan rose 17.3 per cent in August 2026 from August 2025, on a seasonally adjusted basis. The Government of Saskatchewan said so in a news release on Oct. 21, citing Statistics Canada. The release gives the August figure as $621 million.
Regina recorded a 54.7 per cent increase in August, reaching $161 million, the release says. It describes the measure as total spending on building construction within the province. The release does not name any project, builder or site behind the numbers.
Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding said in the release that spending on housing, schools, factories and commercial buildings points to confidence in the provincial economy. The minister added that the benefits extend past the work site to local jobs and businesses.
The release also cites separate Statistics Canada figures on the economy as a whole. It says Saskatchewan’s real GDP reached a record $85.4 billion in 2025, a rise of 2.2 per cent. The national average was 1.7 per cent.
Those are annual numbers and a different measure from the August construction figure.
Private capital investment in the province grew 12 per cent last year to $13.6 billion, the release says. It states that this ranked first among the provinces, and it credits the government’s investment attraction strategy for the growth.
