Regina police have charged a 28-year-old man after a victim was reportedly hit on the rear of the head with a weapon on Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, 2026, to a report of a weapons offence near 11th Avenue and Hamilton Street in Regina. According to the Regina Police Service release, they found a victim with injuries. The victim declined medical attention.

Soon afterward, police arrested a male suspect near 11th Avenue and Rose Street. Police say a search after the arrest turned up an airsoft gun and a machete tucked in his waistband, plus a baton in his pocket. The release does not say which item, if any, was used in the assault.

Jared Charles, 28, is charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and breach of recognizance. The Criminal Code sections cited are 267(a), 90 and 811.

These charges are allegations. Nothing has been proven in court.

Police say Charles first appeared on the charges in Regina Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 26. The release does not say what led to the incident or whether the accused and the victim knew each other.
