Coronach RCMP warn of pickup truck impersonating police

Coronach RCMP are investigating after a driver reported that a pickup truck posing as police tried to pull them over on Highway 36 on Oct. 23.
According to an RCMP release issued Oct. 27, a pickup truck was seen driving erratically near the Highway 13 intersection at about 7:30 p.m. A driver told police they saw red and blue lights in the truck’s windshield and pulled onto the shoulder. The truck did not stop and sped away.
Police describe the vehicle as a white or light-grey Ford F-150 crew cab. The man behind the wheel is described as having short grey hair. The release gives no further detail about him.
RCMP say the truck is not connected to any police agency or unit working in the area.
Police have not located the truck, and the investigation continues.
Officers noted that impersonating police is illegal. Anyone who thinks an imitation police vehicle is following them should contact the RCMP right away, the release says. The same applies to anyone who has been pulled over for, or has come across, the truck described.
Police also say a person worried during a stop can ask to see the officer’s badge and ID card. Both carry the same regimental number, and the card has a photo. When it is safe, the person can call the RCMP to verify who they are dealing with.
