Saskatchewan’s Crown corporations spent $2.1 billion on goods and services in the 2025-26 fiscal year, Crown Investments Corporation (CIC) said in a release on October 29.

CIC tabled the sector’s Payee Disclosure Report with the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies. The report covers April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, and lists payments by CIC and its subsidiary Crown corporations.

According to the release, $1.5 billion of the procurement spending went to Saskatchewan suppliers. That includes $152 million to Indigenous suppliers, which is $26 million more than in 2024-25.

CIC says the sector paid $68 million in dividends to the province’s General Revenue Fund. It also reports more than $35 million in grants, contributions, donations and sponsorships. The release names STARS air ambulance and the sector-wide Indigenous Bursary Program among the recipients.

Crown corporations employ more than 11,000 people, the release says. Employee remuneration came to just over $1.3 billion, up $43.4 million from 2024-25.

CIC also credits the sector with effective fiscal management and says it delivered the second lowest utility costs in Canada, which it says keeps Saskatchewan the country’s most affordable place to live. Those are CIC’s own statements. The release does not give figures to support them.

The release cautions that the report counts amounts paid in each fiscal year, so year-over-year comparisons call for care. The full report is on CIC’s website.
