Four charged after Regina fentanyl and meth trafficking probe

Regina police charged four people after Oct. 23 arrests ended a two-month investigation into suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking, the service announced Oct. 30. The charges are allegations. None has been proven in court, and all four accused are presumed innocent.
The service says its Drug Unit began the investigation in August. Officers arrested two adult males and a youth in the 1800 block of Victoria Avenue, where police say they seized a loaded, sawed-off .22 calibre firearm and 96 grams of methamphetamine.
Searches of homes in the 1800 block of Hamilton Street and the 2400 block of Harvey Street followed. The release lists three sawed-off firearms recovered: a loaded .22, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .308 rifle. Police also report ammunition, $7,870 in cash and about 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine. The release does not report any fentanyl seized.
Inderjeet Uppal, 43, of Edmonton, is charged with possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. Damon Shaw, 27, of Fort McMurray, Alta., faces the same drug charge plus several firearms charges. Jeremy Wasteste, 39, of Regina, is charged with that drug offence alone.
A 14-year-old male from Stony Plain, Alta., faces firearms charges, a concealed weapon charge and a serial number tampering charge. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The three men appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Oct. 23. The youth appeared the same day in Regina Provincial Youth Court.
