Youth released without charges after Pelican Narrows death

A teenage youth who turned themselves in over the death of a 22-year-old man in Pelican Narrows was released without charges on November 1, Saskatchewan RCMP said.
The man was from Pelican Narrows. The RCMP have not released his name. He was declared dead in hospital.
According to the RCMP, the Homicide Investigation Unit has determined that at about 6:53 p.m. on October 29 the man approached two teenage youths and fired a gun toward them. One of the youths then fired a gun toward him.
About 7 p.m., the community’s local RCMP detachment was told a man was hurt at a residence. Officers found him seriously injured, and EMS took him to hospital.
On November 1, one of the youths contacted the unit to turn themselves in and was arrested. Investigators reviewed video footage and consulted Crown prosecutors before the youth was released without charges. No one has been charged.
The RCMP say neither youth reported physical injuries. The unit is not looking for anyone else in connection with the death, and the RCMP continue to investigate the circumstances.
The RCMP first reported the death on October 30 and called it suspicious. Anyone with information can contact their local police service at 310-RCMP.
